Maye The Force Be With You.

The New York Times chose the worst timing to attack incoming Twitter CEO Elon Musk, and his mom showed them why we’re celebrating Mothers’ Day this weekend.

Maye Musk, who raised her son in Joburg till he was 17 had a mouthful to say when the American publisher questioned Elon’s ‘free speech’ twitter take over.

the New York times article said:

"Elon Musk grew up in elite white communities in South Africa, detached from apartheid's atrocities and  surrounded by anti-black propaganda. he sees his takeover of Twitter as a free speech win but in his youth did not suffer the effects of misinformation."

The paper claims Elon Musk can’t be the face of free speech when he was okay wit the apartheid system back in pre-democratic South Africa. But the billionaire’s mom came out for her cub & questioned if children should be blamed for the errors of government.

Maye Musk, using the same platform in question, twitter, said:

"In South Africa if you publicly opposed apartheid you went to jail. In Russia if you publicly oppose the war, you go to jail. @nytimes are you going to blame children for decisions of made by governments?".

She has a point, but I wonder if she should have stopped at government or if she should have instead included their parents.

Elon Musk is mounting a twitter takeover bid that has seen a number of deep pockets raise their hands to invest in his soon-to-be-privatised twitter including a Saudi prince and Oracle billionaire Larry Ellison.

Elon Musk lived in Pretoria and went to posh schools like Bryanston High before his parents shipped the family off to the land of milk and tesla.

Today he’s the wealthiest man on the planet & ‘bout to own one of the most influential media platforms in the 21st century.
