Zwane reflects on Ashley Du Preez's great form

Following their 1-0 victory against Chippa United at the Nelson Mandela Bay Stadium on Thursday afternoon, Kaizer Chiefs head coach Arthur Zwane has revealed why striker Ashley Du Preez has been in an outstanding form lately.

Du Preez joined Chiefs during the beginning of the season from Stellenbosch FC and struggled to find his way around adapting to the new challenge at Amakhosi scoring only two goals in his first 10 appearances for the Glamour Boys.

With the Kaizer Chiefs faithful beginning to criticise the 25 year old for his lack of composure upfront, Du Preez gradually began to pick up from where he left off at Stellenbosch and started to regain his form under the guidance of Zwane.

Having scored seven goals in his past 12 matches in all competitions, Du Preez has made a name for himself in the gold and black colours of Kaizer Chiefs and he has also cemented his place in Amakhosi's starting XI.

With Du Preez also providing five assists in the campaign so far, Zwane has expressed his joy at the form of Du Preez alluding that Du Preez has found his form at the right time.

"It's always going to take time for many players that come to Kaizer Chiefs and easily adapt because Chiefs is a different team in terms of the environment.

Things are done differently here and the professionalism here is different too, so I don't blame players for taking longer to adapt and settle in," Zwane said.

Du Preez's goal on Thursday means that Amakhosi have only managed to score 39 times in all competitions this season and Zwane is happy that Du Preez' goals as an individual have contributed immensely upfront for the Glamour Boys.

"We are honestly happy with Du Preez's current performance and work ethic, he is scoring goals and crucial goals that manage to win us games, he is also not just scoring goals but he is performing well in other avenues too.

So I personally believe that he has picked up at the right time and that's why we have brought him here and that's why he is also consistently in the starting XI," Zwane added.

Chiefs will next be in action on Monday the 1st of May 2023 in the DSTV Premiership against Swallows FC as they continue their quest to secure a CAF Champions League spot.

They next face Orlando Pirates in the Nedbank Cup semi-final at the FNB Stadium on the 6th of May.
