Bafana Bafana midfielder Sphephelo Sithelo has described the clash against Morocco in the AFCON last 16 on Tuesday night as a match that they want to win for the many South Africans that have been supporting Bafana Bafana during the on-going tournament in Ivory Coast.

With a place in the quarterfinals at stake, Bafana Bafana will face Cape Verde should they defeat Morocco on Tuesday night.

Speaking ahead of the clash at the pre-match press conference on Monday afternoon, Sithole conceded that the team understands the magnitude of the encounter and they will go all out to ensure they get a victory.

"The match against Morocco is big for us and not only us but everyone back home that will be watching and that has been supporting us from the beginning of the tournament.

We therefore want to win the match obviously to progress to the next round but most importantly for our people in South Africa and I think we can do well so that everyone back at home will also be happy," Sithole said.

With the 24-year old playing in the middle of the park alongside the 2022/23 PSL Midfielder of the year Teboho Mokoena, Bafana Bafana has been deemed to have a very good chance of winning the midfield battle against Morocco, something that Sithole is also looking forward to.

"Well my combination in the midfield with Teboho has been very solid, we are working very well and we understand each other very well too.

I think if we can keep on playing like this, we will achieve alot and help the team to go far," Sithole added.

Meanwhile, football legend Jomo Sono has heaped praises on Sithole reiterating that the midfielder has an outstanding and an incredible work rate.

"Sphephelo's work rate is second to none, he plays for the team than himself, some players play for themselves and they play for individual awards but he covers everyone in midfield.

He is not fancy but as a coach, you understand all the dirty work he does in midfield, people like Themba Zwane get freedom because of him and he is always present when Zwane moves," Sono said.

Kick-off at the San Pedro Stadium on Tuesday night is 22:00 pm.
