"We don't underestimate our opponents" - Jose Riveiro

Ahead of the 2024 Nedbank Cup last 32, Orlando Pirates head Jose Riveiro insists that they don't underestimate Crystal Lake as the two sides face each other in a 'David vs Goliath' encounter on Saturday afternoon.

Speaking at the Nedbank Cup press conference on Thursday afternoon at the PSL Headquarters in Johannesburg, Riveiro said they will approach the match with one focus in mind and that is to come out victorious.

"We will prepare ourselves as usual and we are going to take the game very seriously because we had an experience last season playing against lower-league opponents like Dondol Stars, All Stars and Venda Football Club and it was not an easy part for us.

We know clearly what the objective is for us and we are going to fight the same way we did against Mamelodi Sundowns," Riveiro said.

Pirates, who are the defending champions of the Nedbank Cup will be without the services of midfield maestro Miguel Timm due to suspension after being sent off for two bookable offenses last week against Mamelodi Sundowns in the DStv Premiership.

"We will be without Timm for obviously being sent off against Sundowns however, we have a solid squad that is more than capable of doing the job for us, we just need to prepare well and put out a team that will win the encounter," Riveiro added.

Meanwhile, Crystal Lake's President Joe Mhlanga has revealed that they are ready for the Sea Robbers.

"The boys are ready, highly charged and keen to face one of the biggest teams in the South African league, we have won all nine games in the Nedbank Cup knockout competition to get to the last 32 and we want to make it 10 out of 10," Mhlanga added.

Kick-off at the Mbombela Stadium on Saturday is 15:00 o'clock.
