Mamelodi Sundowns' latest signing Thembinkosi Lorch has revealed why he decided to join the reigning DStv Premiership champions from Soweto giants, Orlando Pirates.

While Lorch's departure from Pirates to Sundowns caused a huge uproar from the South African football fraternity and fans alike, the 31-year-old has alluded that joining a team like Sundowns is incredibly satisfying.

"Leaving Pirates was tough, given the time I spent wearing the Pirates jersey and the love I received from the fans however, I believe that making this move is a crucial step in my career at this time and being in this new environment and joining a winning team like Sundowns feels incredibly satisfying.

Now I am eager to contribute my best and continue achieving success in this new chapter of my football journey," Lorch said.

Lorch who spent seven and a half years with the Buccaneers also revealed how his family reacted to the move.

"Whatever makes me happy, they always support me and of course some family members didn’t see the move coming, but that is football and change is part of the game and I appreciate the support from those closest to me,'' Lorch added.

The 31-year old leaves Pirates after making over 170 appearances and scoring 34 goals in the process.
