Few hours after announcing his retirement from professional football, Kennedy Mweene's former and current teammates have reacted to the Zambian international's retirement, expressing how incredible Mweene is.

Upon his retirement, Sundowns' goalkeeper Denis Onyango described Mweene as a happy soul, citing that the 38-year old was always a happy man during their training sessions.

"Happy face when we are at training, he always gave 100% when we were given a task and he is the only goalkeeper in the PSL that have won all the titles in Africa," Onyango said.

Meanwhile Mweene’s former teammate Sibusiso Vilakazi who is now playing for Sekhukhune United also paid his tribute to the great shot-stopper.

"Incredible King Kenny ! One of the most decorated players and a man that has trophies galore, all the best Kapayala," Vilakazi added.

Mweene will now work closely with a man that has described the retiree as a professional hard worker yet very humble and kind, Wendell Robinson, as the latest addition to the Brazilians' technical team in the goalkeeping department.

Just before Mweene announced his retirement on Monday the 10th of July 2023, Sundowns' head Rulani Mokwena uploaded a picture on his Twitter account sitting with his technical team, and Mweene was part of it.
