Mamelodi Sundowns seek to make it 11 out of 11 in the DStv Premiership

In a David vs Goliath encounter at Loftus Versfeld Stadium on Wednesday night, Mamelodi Sundowns will welcome Cape Town Spurs looking to claim their 11th consecutive victory of the 2023/24 DStv Premiership.

Heading into the clash, Sundowns forward Lesiba Nku has revealed that the Cape Town based team will be a tricky opponent to face considering that they have nothing to lose.

“I think the game against Spurs won’t be easy, they are fighting for their lives and we also want to win the league and we are trying to win every game we play so it’s not going to be an easy game however, we are going to fight.

Another important thing we need to do is to not consider where they are on the log because we take each game as it comes and we play to win every game," Nku said.

Meanwhile, Spurs head coach Ernst Midderndorp will be looking to secure his first victory as head coach of Cape Town Spurs since he took over last month.

Reflecting on his side’s recent 3-0 loss to Stellenbosch FC, Middendorp mentioned that Spurs lacked character and attributed individual errors as a negative factor against the Winelands outfit.

"We were not a unified team to really show the character that we need to show when you want to stay in the Premiership.

This is something I have to address, probably a little bit deeper, at the moment you can see the character of the team is not the best because in the last 20 minutes the players looked demotivated, looked frustrated and we were not functional as a team at all," Midderndorp said.

Kick-off at Loftus Versfeld is 19:30.
