Orlando Pirates have announced the departure of winger Thembinkosi Lorch to rivals Mamelodi Sundowns.

Upon announcing the move, the Sea Robbers released a statement thanking Lorch for his services and contribution to the team.

"Thembinkosi Lorch is to leave Orlando Pirates Football Club after a discussion between the Chairman Dr. Irvin Khoza and the Mamelodi Sundowns hierarchy.

The club thanks “Nyoso” for his immense contribution by adding another page in the history of the Club and we wish him and his family well in his future sporting pursuit," the statement read.

Having burst into the scenes over a decade ago at Maluti FET in the second tier, Lorch was signed by Pirates in 2015, though he spent that first season out on loan at Cape Town All Stars, before spending the 2016/17 campaign on loan at Chippa United.

The 31-year old leaves Pirates after making over 170 appearances and scoring 34 goals in the process.
