Joburg residents can breathe a sigh of relief as the city waives interest on late payments.

This following a system issue that saw residents not receiving their statements from March.

The disregard of the interest will see residents receive two bills this month for both March and April, and will include the outstanding balance from March.

In a statement issued by the city, it has been said that customers who have chosen a fixed payment due date, may also receive a March statement that reflects the due dates that have passed.

Finance MMC Dada Morero has further reiterated that no resident of the city will be charged any interest, except for residents owing the city from 28 February 2023, prior to the system issue.
