Newly signed Mamelodi Sundowns attacking midfielder Thembinkosi Lorch has opened up about how difficult it will be to play against his former club, Orlando Pirates on Saturday night but concedes he has to do it.

Speaking ahead of the DStv Premiership encounter between the two rivals, Lorch also revealed that he is hoping to make his Sundowns debut over the weekend.

"It’s difficult to play my first game, especially against my former team(Orlando Pirates) but in life, one needs to move on hence I am hoping that I will start over the weekend and do my best for my team, Sundowns has welcomed me well and the spirit in the team is good, every player wants to play over the weekend because we are playing against Pirates, a big team, so it's a big game," Lorch said.

Although Sundowns players who were on Bafana Bafana duty in the Africa Cup of Nations in Ivory Coast more likely to miss the match against Pirates, Sundowns head coach Rulani Mokwena was cagey when asked if Lorch will be available to play, only saying he must fight for his place in the star-studded Sundowns side.

Lorch furthermore paid tribute to Pirates chairman Dr Irvin Khoza for granting him the opportunity to wear the black and white jersey of the Sea Robbers.

"I remember I signed for Pirates when I was 22 years old and I just left as a 30-year-old, so I am grateful for the opportunity that he gave me and Pirates will always have a special place in my heart.

"I also want to thank the president of Sundowns, Tlhopie Motsepe for believing in me and bringing me here and I am looking forward to giving my best for this team, that’s all I can say," Lorch added.
