Orlando Pirates' latest signing Patrick Maswanganyi has expressed his delight at joining the Soweto giants from SuperSport United.

Maswanganyi joined Pirates along with Sephelo Baloyi, Melusi Buthelezi and Katlego Otladisa ahead of the 2023/24 football season as the Buccaneers seek to continue where they left off last season after winning the Nedbank Cup and the MTN 8 that was also accompanied by progression to next season's CAF Champions League.

Having already scored twice in the black and white colours of the Buccaneers in their on-going pre-season camp in Spain, Maswanganyi is looking forward to the new season with great excitement and willingness to help the team achieve the desired results.

"It's a great feeling to be part of this club and I am really enjoying myself so far, my teammates are incredible and they have really helped me to settle in.

In my time here I have already improved in my skills and my movement and that’s what I want to do, I want to learn more about football, and this is a big team and and full of rich history and I want to be a part of the history of this club," Maswanganyi said.

After their strong performances in Spain, Maswanganyi has called on his new Orlando Pirates family of fans to have faith in what they can achieve in a season that will include CAF Champions League participation.

“The Champions League means a lot for this team and it’s a great opportunity to test our skills and play against the best, so the message I have for the fans is to please keep supporting the players and believing in us because we will keep trying to improve and give our best every single game," Maswanganyi added.

The Soweto giants will play against Las Palmas on Wednesday the 19th of July 2023 as they conclude their pre-season camp in Spain.
