Gauteng Government Looks Into Imposing Tighter Restrictions In Order To Deal With The Rising Covid-19 Rates In The Province

The Gauteng province has been red-flagged for having the highest rate of daily infections in comparison to other provinces. Hospitals in Gauteng have been reported to be under pressure as Covid-19 infections continue to climb up,  the Gauteng Provincial government has announced that they have put great strides in ensuring that the province overcomes the third wave. 

The provincial government highlighted that since the closure of Charlotte Maxeke Hospital both private and public falities are running out of Intensive Care Units. 

 “So, we talk to the private hospitals almost on a daily basis, and they do indicate to us that they are running almost at about 80% of their capacity for ICU. In the public hospitals, we are also running at about 70%," the Gauteng government's Thabo Masebe said. 

Gauteng government's Thabo Masebe the province will impose more restrictions in an effort to slow down the number of daily infections. 
 “That’s what the premier had said. He will be raising that with the national government to see what added restrictions could be made to help slow down the rate of infections in the province,” the Gauteng government's Thabo Masebe said.
