Ahead of their 2023 AFCON last 16 clash against Morocco next week Tuesday, Bafana Bafana head coach Hugo Broos is concerned about Khuliso Mudau's injury.

Mudau was substituted at halftime during the goalless draw against Tunisia on Wednesday evening in the final group E match at the Amadou Gon Coulibaly Stadium in Korhogo, raising concerns about his ankle.

With the 28-year old starting as a right back in all of Bafana Bafana's group E matches, Broos acknowledged the worrying developments on Mudau's injury.

"I don’t know, we have to wait till Thursday(25 January 2024) for the medical report but the fact that Khuliso was to go out is not a good sign.

It’s an ankle injury and the medical team will see him on Thursday and make a good analysis of his injury and then maybe we can decide if he should be ready for next week," Broos said.

Mudau’s potential absence in next week's encounter would be a significant blow to Bafana Bafana who will likely turn to Thapelo Morena at right-back or Nyiko Mobbie, who came in for the Mamelodi Sundowns defender.

Kick-off at the Stade de San Pédro Stadium next week Tuesday is 22:00 pm.
