Weekend Roundup: Zuma Compares Today's Courts To Those Of The Apartheid Era.

Former president Jacob Zuma has missed the Constitutional court deadline to hand himself over to authorities. On Saturday the apex court agreed to hear out his application to rescind the order that he be jailed for 15 months. The application's sitting will take place next week. 

On Sunday Zuma briefed the media describing his 15 months jail sentence as a travesty to justice, comparing the courts in democratic South Africa to those of the apartheid era.  Zuma said he has been unfairly treated by the apex court and the Zondo Commission of Inquiry into state capture. He continued to say he has been a victim of being disliked by Deputy Chief Justice Raymond Zondo. 

Zuma added that the judiciary has shown bias and has politicized his case, expressing his loss of hope in the countries law, he compared the subsequent situation to that of the apartheid era. He also said sending him to prison at his age during the peak of Covid -19 is no different to being sentenced to death.

 '' Sending me to jail during the height of a pandemic at my age, is the same as sentencing me to death.” Said Zuma
