Deputy Minister Nocawe Mafu On The Passing Of Mr Luxolo Qoboshiyane

 The Deputy Minister for Sport, Arts and Culture, Ms. Nocawe Mafu has learned with sadness of the untimely passing of Mr. Luxolo Qoboshiyana, former rugby and cricket player of the Border region. Mr. Qoboshiyana played a tremendous role in various unity talks with the border rugby region and served as a champion of transformation in rugby until his ultimate passing. 

Mr. Luxolo Qoboshiyana's career highlights include playing provincial cricket for Border (Non-Racial) until unity, participation in 1991 unity talks (SACB & SACU), and two seasons as the convener of the Border Cricket Selector. He was also a two-season Warriors acting convener selector, and National Selector from 2016 to 2019. 

 When Deputy Minister for Sport, Arts and Culture Ms. Nocawe Mafu learned of Mr. Qoboshiyane's untimely death, she said, "Mr. Qoboshiyana will be sadly missed by everyone, particularly the youth and his colleagues, as he remained a custodian and a propeller of change in cricket and rugby until his passing." His dedication to sport as a whole can never be forgotten. His death comes at a time when such expertise in sport is urgently needed, especially in the fields of school sports and cricket in the region.” 

The Department extends its profound condolences to his relatives, colleagues, and the whole industry. May his soul rest in peace. During this tough moment, the Department exudes tremendous courage.
