Sekhukhune District Municipality is launching  the District Development Model (DDM) in the Sekhukhune area. DDM Political Champion of Sekhukhune District and Deputy Minister in the Presidency, Ms Thembi Siweya, are set to attend the event. The Deputy Minister is also scheduled to interact with multiple stakeholders who are critical for realisation of a functional DDM. 

The District Development Model is intended to improve coherence and impact of government service delivery through initially identified 44 districts and 8 metros around the country – Sekhukhune District being amongst this number. At the crux of this game changing approach is the set-up of centres of service delivery and economic development. Deputy Minister Thembi Siweya will also lead oversight inspections at infrastructure sites to engage targeted stakeholders in the Sekhukhune District. 

This in turn is intended to lay a foundation for social compacting that can catalyse development, enhance service delivery and produce an effective response mechanism to existing and emerging socioeconomic challenges.
