Deputy Chief Justice Raymond Zondo announced that he  will deliver his much anticipated judgement on Wednesday on  whether or he will recuse himself  or not from the state capture inquiry.  Detailing his reasons, Justice Zondo said he was still going through documents to carefully arrive at a proper judgment. 

On Monday former president Jacob Zuma together with with lawyer Muzi Sikhakhane filed for Zondo to recuse himself stating that he has previously lined up hostile witness who had a level of bias against Zuma such as Former finance Minister Nhlanhla Nene, Transport Minister Fikile Mbalula, Former Enterprise Minister Barbara Hogan and  former deputy finance minister Mcebisi Jonas.   

However according to IOL evidence leader Adv Paul Pretorius asked Zondo to reject this, saying Zuma had failed to lead evidence showing the judge was biased against him. He also Zuma did not lead evidence indicating the judge had prejudged the matter and said those were litmus tests for a recusal application.
