Aurelia Seeks To Create Responsible digital citizens.

 A legal attorney, corporate influencer, social entrepreneur, and socialite Hailing from Durban, in  Kwa Zulu Natal aims to leave an impact in this world through touching , grooming and changing the lives of South Africans. Advocate Aurelia  holds an LLB degree, a compliance certificate from the University of Cape Town, she also  completed her postgraduate diploma in contract drafting and interpretation.  Nxumalo certainly wears many hats which are focused in advancing  social change as well as  fostering a South Africa we can all imagine. Today she speaks to us about a foundation she started with her business partner Advocate Rethabile Seema called The learned friend.

Seema  is an admitted Advocate of the High Court, who holds an LLB degree from the University of Johannesburg. She further holds a LLM  also from the University of Johannesburg. Her love for academics and constant pursuit for learning and upskilling naturally led her to enroll for a PhD, which she is currently pursuing with the University of Witwatersrand, specializing in Mercantile law. Nxumalo and Seema's love for  law inspired them to contribute towards building  a responsible digital citizen.



Being home during the intense levels of the lock down frustrated many people across the globe. This season came with a transition that was not so smooth. However as seen on social media people resorted to different activities and measures in order to keep themselves sane through these globally critical times. The digital space became more of a jungle more than it ever did.

The rise of social media traffic also contributed to irresponsible social media phenomenons such as hate speech as well as fake news. Observing these trends the two advocates then decided to be agents of change though contributing to educating the public about the legal implications of reckless media production or posts as well as the diversified pillars of the law which would help aid to equip the public regardless of whether they have a background in law or not.

The advocates educated social media consumers about law as it pertains to their  everyday lives. Through this foundation Nxumalo and Seema have spread the gospel of responsible digital practices. Going to the future the duo plans on creating more digital discussions also on areas of digital  estate planning. A digital area with has not been necessarily  looked into in South Africa. Also they are planning oh hosting workshops in schools and prison in order to continue teaching people about the law

Adding to to Aurelia's hats she is a Brand SA Ambassodor  and also a co founder of The Professionista a virtual space in which women in corporate can connect, impart, teach, inspire and unite for those entering the corporate world to your seasoned corporate women and further like minded community of women for women to share valuable information with each other.

 Her passion for women and young women has made her to break boundaries in an attempt to help improve their lively-hood even  through HERSHIMA a  pad initiative aimed at ensuring disadvantaged women have access to sanitary pads.

She concludes with giving us the three do's and dont's for  aspiring professionals :

Covid-19 has changed and shaped life as we know it.  As such it has  also made people to embrace the virtual and digital platforms which technological advancements have introduced. With that said as more and more people make camp in the digital world . It is of paramount importance to create responsible digital citizens who are guided by ethical and legal principles which will limit hate speech, defamation , fake news as well as other legally punishable actions. Aurelia Nxumalo and Rethabile Seema have played a commendable role in educating the local society to be responsible digital citizens.
