By Phumzile Mavimbela

Everyone can add lyrics to a beat but its  takes hard work and pure  talent to take people on a journey with your music. This what Dalinyebo Emmanuel Mitchell Mbonani AKA The Galaxy and Dali  believes. Dali is  young artist from the East of Johannesburg has dropped a new single tittled Life After Lock Down. We spoke to him  regarding his new project as well as his musical journey. below he shows us life through his lenses.

Where did it all start ?
I started doing music this year. However I discovered my passion when I was 13 years old, listening to artists such as Tracy Chapman, Loran Hill and Paul Mcharty.

What projects have you worked on ?
In March 2020 I released my first EP named Bad Things. The album is a cinematic journey narrating about the depression struggles of a young man  Sam, who happens to be my friend. Not only is the album a narration of Sam's life it also draws from my own struggles and battles, hence the songs are aimed at invoking hope and comfort.

The latest project I have worked on is a single titled Life After Lock Down.  Covid 19 and the Lock Down has caused us to introspect and reflect on our lives. The season changed our perspective towards life entirely. In this single people can expect to see a matured version of me and my sound.

I usually say I am not a rapper but an artist because  my work and music is like stepping into a museum and journeying tp places you have never imagined. My sound has colour because I use my talent to colour in pictures.  The Galaxy and Dali
Why Music ?
I am an artist  versatile in my craft. Not only can I pen down lyrics but I am also good in visual arts. However music is my area of preference because you can easily impact and get your point across through words and Melody. A drawing can never reach the depths music reaches.

Where do you draw your creativity from?
I spend my  time in my  thoughts and own mind that is  where  I draw my  creativity.  I believes that artists can be inspired by any and everything in front of their eyes. I am also inspired by clouds, church sermons and even strangers.

Where to from here ?
I see my self as one of the greatest artists of all times, changing the lives of those coming after me. I believe I am one of the First South Africans to unite both white and black cultures through music. This is because I had the privilege of growing in both communities respectively. I believe the best unifier between the two races is LOVE and that is the message I want to reiterate.
