Ramaphosa Has Been Elected SA President In 8th Indirect Presidential Election

President Cyril Ramaphosa has been elected as President of the Republic of South Africa during the 8th indirect election of a president in the 6th Parliment of South Africa. He stood unopposed by the opposition parties in the National Assembly.
South Africa's constitution does not permit for the direct election of a president but rather bestows that power to the National Assembly to elect one of its members as president. As a result of his election, Ramaphosa siezes to be a member of Parliment.

Earlier on Thandi Modise was elected by 250 MPs vs. 83 for DA's Thembekile Majola in the election for Speaker of the National Assembly. 17 ballots were spolied during the election of Speaker.
