5 Ways To Keep Skin Hydrated During Winter: Make Up Do’s

By Katekani Shivambu

When nearing the winter season skin becomes drier and wearing make-up on dry skin can be a serious nightmare. I want to give you easy life hacks for preparing your make-up look with your dry skin, these tips will not only allow you to keep your skin healthy and moisturised but will give you the glowed up look throughout winter. Here are your “how to” with make-up this winter.

1.Prep Skin For Make-Up: Antioxidant Primers

The key is to keep skin hydrated before you could even apply your make-up, so use your daily antioxidant moisturiser, BB cream or hydrating eye serum or creams. The point here is to ensure that your skin is moisturised.

2.  Do not go for powder: Essential oils

Keep that mattified powder for summer babe, go for your liquid foundation with essential oils, applied in soft, downward strokes with a foundation brush (brushing upwards can irritate sensitive complexions). Try aloe based products foundation sticks for that sheer clear coverage that won’t leave you dried out by the end of the day.

3. Shadow and blush with cream-based products.

Use cream-based blushes and eye shadow palettes, avoid using powdery products. Try using products like the Revlon Colorstay cream based eyeshadows, which does not just stay all day but has the perfect pigment without the fading.

4. Matte lipstick

In winter you tend to be more dehydrated which may cause your lips to chap, so Matte lipstick is a no go, unless you moisturising before applying. This can be tricky because the moisture dries out very quickly then leaving your lips even more dry.

Try using moisturised lipstick, thick essential oils infused colours are a win. Like the Elizabeth Arden Beautiful Color Moisturizing Lipstick in Matte Shades with vitamin E & Argan oil Beautiful Color Moisturizing Lipstick is highly pigmented and fade-resistant its matte formula glides on with silky smooth comfort and saturates lips with intense colour that last for 12 hours. The modern and luxurious matte lipstick features moisture-enriched pigments, mango, shea and Murumuru butters to protect, condition, and nourish lips with moisture.

For me this is the solution if you do not want to go complete glossy this winter, the satin-Texture Powders form a unique film that flexes and bends and that won’t fade all day to give you the matte finish we are all looking for.

5. Stay Hydrated

Drink plenty of liquid darlings! It may be harder to drink water during the colder day, so try to keep hydrated by drinking water tea perhaps even a warm cup of soup, it is not 100% mandatory to drink water, however, ensure you keep the body hydrated and your skin will love you for it.
