The Mazda 6 Goes For Automatic Transmission

By Joburg Post

Manual cars are slowly becoming a thing of the past as the Mazda 6 is also dropping its manual transmission option in 2019. According to R&T  with news confirmed by Jalopniks, Mazda refreshed its 6 sedan in late 2017, adding a turbocharged engine and some new, sleek looks. While we were worried Mazda would drop the manual then, the manual shift persisted, being only available with the base naturally aspirated 2.5-liter motor.

In the news on Mazda dropping manual, Mazda told Jalopniks according to R&T that their customer’s voice is important and that they will continue to listen to what their customers want when it comes to their vehicle's look. “As we have moved the Mazda 6 upscale with the launch of the Grand Touring Reserve and Signature models, we have seen less demand for a manual transmission option." Mazda said to Jalopkins according to R&T.

Although the Mazda 6 is moving into automatic transmission, Mazda offers a manual on the all-new Mazda3, and, of course, the MX-5 Miata.
