Q: What is your favourite hangout spot in Joburg and why?


A: My favourite hangout spot has to be Six in Mellville, Masterantonio Restaurant in Illovo Johannesburg with its brilliant pastas and Katzy’s in Rosebank especially on a Thursday night with its live music by Doctor Viktor and the Rasta Rebels. And lastly having a glass of wine at JB’s Corner Melrose Arch.


Q: What are your favourite things to do in Joburg ?


A: Going to Soweto in Pimville to wash my car, hanging out at Vialkazi Street for some African cuisine. Going for Movies at Montecasino or in Rosebank the furs. Playing Golf with my mates at Ruimsig Country Club.

Q:  Who are two most favourite Joburg residents for you and why?


A: My cousin Shane Maja who is a pillar of strength and the major of Blackheath, hah ah ha… My good Friends Walter Mokoena, Andile Ncube and Ernest Pillay with whom I share most of my favourite things and moments. Also my golfing partner and Real Estate Guru TT-Mbha with whom we share the same Pimville roots and actor Mampho Brecia who adds a lot of fun to plenty of conversation.


Q:  What’s your earliest memory of the city?


A: The fact that Joburg has plenty of indigenous trees and when you fly over it you can appreciate that it’s a small forest.  


Q:  What’s your favourite iconic feature about the city?


A: The Baragwanath Hospital were I was born is an Iconic place and taking the train from my granny’s place in Soweto to go to Orlando Stadium and Rand Stadium for a football match, this defined my career path from early days. Lastly the Nelson Mandela bridge especially when its lit at night, a sight to behold.

Q:  What makes the city special for you?


A: It’s vibrant nature and fast paced life. No time to waist everything happens at breakneck speed. A lot people have been swallowed by its lights.


Q: What is a must do and see in the Joburg?


A: Constitutional Hill, Vilakazi Street for lunch and Farmers Market on Sunday afternoon for a picnic.


Q:  What’s the most underrated place in the city? Your hidden gem?

 

A: I spend most of my time hitting golf balls at the Lenasia golf driving range with my German friend Andre, it’s a serene place I also think the many Golf Courses around the City, there are plenty of them, the Royal Johannesburg Golf Club, Ruimsig Country Club, Dainfern golf course are a thing of beauty.
