Zwane confident Chiefs will overcome Stellenbosch

Kaizer Chiefs coach Arthur Zwane is confident his team will get the desired result in their DSTV Premiership clash against Stellenbosch FC at the FNB Stadium on Saturday night.

Chiefs welcome Stellenbosch after a good run of form that has seen the Soweto giants win four consecutive matches in all competitions and Zwane is wary of the threat Stellenbosch poses going into the encounter.

Speaking at the Kaizer Chiefs' press conference on Thursday, Zwane said, "It feels good to be back after the international break that gave us a bit of a rest, unfortunately it doesn't get any easy as we face a very tactically good Stellenbosch side that has won their last few games including taking two points from log leaders Mamelodi Sundowns so we have to be alert going into the encounter," Zwane said.

Despite the threat Stellenbosch comes with, Chiefs have managed to win all their clashes against Stellenbosch this season, first in the MTN 8 and secondly in the DSTV Premiership and Zwane is confident his team will manage to keep the consistency going.

"We obviously want to keep our momentum going because it is key for us to be up there and challenge for the second spot and I must really commend the players for the hard work and dedication they have shown so far in the current campaign," Zwane said.

Amakhosi will be without their regular midfield maestro Yusuf Maart due to suspension and the likes of Reeve Frosler, Khama Billiat and Eric Mathoho due to injuries however, Zwane has insisted on putting on a consistent lineup for the encounter.

"We obviously have a couple of players unavailable due to either injuries or suspension but we will definitely put on a strong and consistent lineup on Saturday,"

Zwane was also quick to defend his players after none of them was selected for the Bafana Bafana AFCON qualifying squad.

"I think if you can look at the way we have been playing and the number of chances we have been creating but not converting, even the national team was in a similar situation at the Orlando Stadium where a lot of chances were created but not converted.

"So these things happen and that's how football works, we only managed to grind the desired result when we went to Monrovia and the beauty of all it lies in the fact that we were all behind the national team regardless of who was playing." Zwane added.

With rumours suggesting that Chiefs have acquired the services of Mduduzi Mdantsane and Given Msimango, Zwane reiterated that Chiefs has identified players that will boost their squad for next season however, no official announcement has been made as yet.

"We have identified players, we have identified players and we’ll keep on trying our level best to bring in players that we think will add value to the club and at the moment I’m not at liberty to divulge any information until the club makes that announcement.”

Kick-off at the FNB Stadium on Saturday is at 17:45.
