Zimbabwe’s economy could plummet further following rising allegations of the country’s reserve bank being used for money laundering and illicit dealing of gold.

The allegations against the bank sees many organisations and countries choosing to possibly pose sanction on the country.

Following a widespread documentary, it has been alleged that Zimbabwean President Emmerson Mnangagwa has been linked to a syndicate that has been illegally smuggling gold outside the country and engaging in money laundering.

The Reserve Bank Governor has since denied these allegations detailing them as false.

With the state of the Zimbabwean economy already at its lowest, with many citizens living in poverty, such allegations could have great implications for the country going forward.

This is a developing story. More updates to follow.
