Soweto giants Kaizer Chiefs have received a major boost ahead of their clash with Marumo Gallants over the weekend as midfield maestro Yusuf Maart is available for selection.

Maart was unable to feature in Chiefs' 2-1 victory against Stellenbosch FC on Saturday night due to suspension after picking up his fourth yellow card of the season against Maritzburg United on the 18th of March 2023.

In Maart's absence over the weekend against Stellenbosch FC, head coach Arthur Zwane gave youngster Samkelo Zwane a run in the middle of the park alongside Siyethembe Sithebe.

The 21 year old grabbed the opportunity with both hands and repaid Zwane along with his technical team by producing a man of the match performance much to the delight of his coach.

With Maart coming back into the team and being available for selection, it will be interesting to see if Zwane will keep his position in the starting XI or will Amakhosi continue with the regular starting XI.

The former Sekhukhune United captain who joined Chiefs at the beginning of the season has made 22 appearances for Amakhosi so far and has also scored two goals in the process including the famous Soweto derby winner against Orlando Pirates in his own half.

The gifted deep-lying playmaker will be looking to help his side continue with the great run of form they have showcased recently winning five consecutive matches in all competitions including advancing to the Nedbank Cup quarterfinals where they will meet with Royal AM.

The 27 year old will also be aiming for his maiden club CAF Champions League feature as Amakhosi are well and truly still in the chase for a top two finish, sitting fourth on the log level on points with Orlando Pirates and SuperSport United who are second and third respectively, the race for a top two finish will certainly go down to the wire.

Meanwhile, Amakhosi will also welcome back Phathutshedzo Nange for the Gallants test after he didn't feature over the weekend against Stellenbosch FC.

Kick-off at the FNB Stadium on Saturday evening is at 20:00.
