What's On Everyone's Lips: SA's Biovac Will Manufacture Pfizer COVID-19 Jab In SA.

By Phumzile Mavimbela

Pfizer and its German vaccine partner, Bio-NTech, have signed a letter of intent with the Biovac Institute, a company partially owned by the South African government.

Pfizer will start producing its COVID-19 vaccine destined for African nations at a facility in Cape Town. It is set to deliver more than 100-million doses annually, all of which will be distributed to over 50 member states of the African Union.  This move will largely help address the continent's desperate need for more vaccine doses amid a recent surge of cases.
