Pirates are in their second domestic cup final in the 2022/23 PSL season after having already claimed the MTN 8 trophy last year in November, defeating AmaZulu 1-0 in the final at the Moses Mabhida Stadium.

Moreover the Buccaneers have also finished the league on the second spot of log, an achievement that will see Riveiro's charges head into the CAF Champions League next season.

With the Sea Robbers finding their rhythm and form under the guidance of the Spaniard, Mthethwa says they are going all out to win the Nedbank Cup final in order to help Riveiro win the prestigious coach of the season accolade.

"We definitely want to win the Nedbank Cup final so that our coach can stand a better chance of winning the coach of the season award, he has done really well throughout the season and he certainly deserves the award," Mthethwa said.

While the 26 year-old has made 12 appearances in all competitions for the Buccaneers this season, Riveiro has been at the center of Mthethwa's constistent run in the squad.

"Coach Riveiro is the kind of coach that will give you a chance if you work hard and personally I think he has really helped me to be a hard worker and wait for my chance in the team, what I like about him is that he always want the best in us and he believes in each and everyone that is playing for Orlando Pirates," Mthethwa added.

The centre-back who was very influential in Pirates' 2-1 semi-final victory against Kaizer Chiefs by scoring the winning goal deep in extra-time, will be hoping to help his team overcome a stagnant Babina Noko side on Saturday as the Bucanneers will be hoping to end the season on a high note.
