"We need to show the fans that we want to finish fourth" - Dillon Sheppard

Kaizer Chiefs assistant coach Dillon Sheppard has reiterated that Amakhosi will play better in their last match of the DSTV Premiership against Cape Town City on Saturday afternoon.

Chiefs welcome Eric Tinkler's men at the FNB Stadium at the back of losing three consecutive matches in all competitions with the most recent defeat coming at the hands of SuperSport United over the past weekend.

A defeat that the Chiefs' faithful didn't receive well as they hurled objects at some of the players and the head coach Arthur Zwane immediately after the match.

The loss also saw Amakhosi's aspirations for continental football get crushed as they are now languishing on the fourth spot with 44 points.

With another season ending without a trophy at Naturena, Sheppard is optimistic the team will rectify their mistakes to conclude the season on a good note.

“We have a week now to prepare and we will prepare well enough to go out there on Saturday and try to get the victory.

We have shown in the past couple of games that we can be really effective and we can also use the ball well too, it's just unfortunate that against SuperSport we didn’t use the ball well," Sheppard said.

The Glamour Boys head into the encounter against Cape Town City having lost the reverse fixture last year 2-0 on the 23rd of August 2022 at the Cape Town Stadium.

While the FNB Stadium on Saturday will likely be having extra security and police personnel amid the horrific scenes that happened at the Royal Bafokeng Stadium over the past weekend, Sheppard believes the team will show the fans that they want to finish fourth on the log.

“We have our last game now in front of our fans and we need to show them that we really want to get the fourth place on the log," Sheppard added.

Kick-off on Saturday is 15:00 o'clock.
