"We have the opportunity to fix our mistakes and get a good result" - Jose Riveiro

Orlando Pirates head coach Jose Riveiro believes their 1st leg semi-final clash against Stellenbosch FC on Sunday afternoon gives the Soweto giants an opportunity to redeem themselves after losing to the Steelies last month in a league encounter.

During the MTN8 press conference on Thursday afternoon at the PSL headquarters in Johannesburg, Riveiro insisted that their defeat at the hands of Stellenbosch will serve as a motivation for his troops when the two sides meet on Sunday.

"The fact that we couldn't win just a few weeks ago, will serve as an extra motivation, it already seems like we have played against them six months ago but it was just a few weeks ago, I think we played a good game when we lost to Stellenbosch like I said several times already but unfortunately it was not good enough to get the results we were looking for.

Now, the MTN8 draw has given us an opportunity to play them again very soon rather than waiting for the second leg in the league in Orlando," Riveiro said.

With Pirates currently on a good run of form,  the Spaniard will hope that on form striker Zakhele Lepasa and midfielder Patrick Maswanganyi will once again bring their 'A' game to the Athlone Stadium and terrorise the stagnant Steelies defence.

The Sea Robbers advanced to the MTN8 semi-finals after defeating Sekhukhune United 5-0 while Stellenbosch FC got the better of SuperSport United in the quarter-finals.

Kick-off on Sunday afternoon is 15:00.
