"We can't win them all" - Rhulani Mokwena

After being crowned the 2022/23 DSTV Premiership champions over the weekend, Mamelodi Sundowns played out to a 0-0 draw against Cape Town City at Loftus Versfeld on Tuesday evening.

Despite the draw, Sundowns head coach Rhulani Mokwena was pleased with the performance Sundowns displayed on the night particularly expressing his delight on the clean sheet the players managed to achieve.

"A performance that I liked because the intensity was good, we moved the ball very very well and we created a lot of final third entries but the execution and the final pass and action wasn't so good today.

"Well these things happen but I am honestly happy with the clean sheet, we have been conceding quite a number of times now so congratulations to the team for keeping a clean sheet tonight," Mokwena said.

With Cape Town City going down to 10 men in the 74th minute after Fidèle Brice Ambina received his marching orders, Mokwena believes psychologically his players felt the numerical advantage would make things a bit easy whereas it's not always the case.

" I am happy at how we responded and reacted to the red card, we made a couple of changes to try and move the ball a bit faster and arrive in the final third instead of sending the ball into the final third and I think we did that beautifully and maybe on another day we would score one of two of those chances but again we can't win them all," Mokwena added.

The draw means that Sundowns have now dropped points only for the fifth time this season after 24 matches with six remaining in the current DSTV Premiership season.

The stalemate also sees Mokwena's charges go 20 points clear at the summit of the log with 60 points while Cape Town stay rooted on the fifth spot with 34 points after 24 matches.

The Brazilians are back in action again on Sunday the 9th of April against Swallows FC at the Dobsonville stadium.

Kick-off in that encounter is 15:00.
