Amid numerous speculations about the future of Kaizer Chiefs' head coach Arthur Zwane at the club, Amakhosi's communications manager Vina Maphosa has cleared the air stating that Zwane is set to stay at the club beyond the 2022/23 DStv Premiership campaign.

Chiefs suffered their 11th loss of the season after going down 1-0 to SuperSport United at the Royal Bafokeng Stadium in Rustenburg on Saturday afternoon much to the disappointment of their fans.

The loss signaled the team's failure to progress to the CAF Confederations Cup after having already lost the third place spot to progress to the CAF Champions League in another season where the Glamour Boys will go home without any silverware.

The loss to SuperSport was also met with heavy criticism by Chiefs fans, who threw objects at Zwane, demanding that he resigns and for that reason, the Soweto-born coach had to be escorted by police for protection.

While the fans want Zwane to go, Maphosa has reiterated that the 49 year old coach is going nowhere.

"At this point Arthur Zwane remains the coach of Kaizer Chiefs and we are not contemplating on changing the coach because we are not going to act on emotions.

I can also confirm that the coach was injured after the game, he was hurt in the eye due to the shield of the police who were trying to protect him, not from the objects that were thrown at him by the fans however, he has received medical attention," Maphosa said.

Meanwhile the Glamour Boys' assistant coach Dillon Sheppard has alluded that the team will head into Saturday's home clash against Cape Town City aiming to get the maximum points.

Amakhosi face a Cape Town City side that managed to beat them 2-0 in the reverse fixture last year at the Cape Town Stadium, sitting fifth on the log, a win for Eric Tinkler's men will see them leapfrog Kaizer Chiefs into the fourth spot of the league.

"We have a week now to prepare and we will prepare well enough to go out there on Saturday and try to get the victory.

We have our last game now in front of our fans and we need to show them that we really want to get the fourth place on the log," Sheppard said.

Kick-off at the FNB Stadium is 15:00 o'clock.
