"They believe they can win the title" - Morena Ramoreboli

Ahead of the Cosafa Cup semi-final clash against Zambia on Friday evening, Bafana Bafana coach Morena Ramoreboli has revealed that there's a sudden belief from his troops that they can win the Cosafa Cup tournament.

Bafana Bafana advanced to the semi-final of the tournament after finishing top of group A, securing pole position with a dramatic 2-1 win over Eswatini earlier in the week, with substitute Tshegofatso Mabasa scoring two late goals to seal a come-from-behind triumph.

Heading into the semi-final encounter against Zambia, Ramoreboli said, "We are dividing these matches, the last match against Botswana we said we are playing for ourselves, the match against Eswatini we were playing for our families, now heading into the semi-final we are going to play for the South African Football Association in the next match and then play for the nation in the final.

"One thing about these players is that they now believe they can win the title, there's a sense of belief and enthusiasm that is accompanied by high levels of energy in the camp and I am just looking forward to the clash against Zambia," Ramoreboli said.

In head-to-head stats, South Africa and Zambia have met in 23 matches dating back as far as 1992 and each side has claimed nine wins, while five games have been drawn.

The teams last met in the group stage of the 2021 edition of the Cosafa Cup, playing to a 0-0 draw at the Nelson Mandela Bay Stadium in Port Elizabeth.

Kick-off at the King Zwelithini Stadium in Durban on Friday evening is at 18:00 o'clock.
