I write for the fashion, art, entertainment, culture and lifestyle categories at the Joburg Post.

What is your vision for the Joburg Post platform?

As a passionate writer and enthusiast of art, entertainment, fashion, lifestyle, and culture, I have great aspirations for the Joburg Post. I want to use the platform to shed light on artists, creatives, and organisations that empower women and often marginalised groups of people.

So far I am impressed with the Joburg Post's commitment to changing the narrative, from the stories we tell to the everyday interactions we have, and I hope that this will continue in the future.

I envision a team that is inclusive of more young people, who can help the Joburg Post achieve its mandate of becoming the leading Pan African media and entertainment giant across different channels.

With my expertise and passion, I am eager to contribute to this vision and help the Joburg Post become a force for positive change in the media industry.

Tshegofatso Makola, Joburg Post's Politics Writer Intern

Tell us a little bit about yourself?

My name is Tshegofatso Makola and I am a 19-year-old field reporter and newsreader.  I'm a BA Humanities student at the University of Pretoria (UP), who loves all things news and politics related.

I enjoy exploring different genres of Literature, spending time with my family and friends and occasionally showcasing my Masterchef-worthy skills in the kitchen if I'm not trying out some new restaurant.

I am the news field reporter and reader who covers all news, politics and current-affairs related for the Joburg Post.

I began my career in 2022, where I worked (and continue to work) as a news and sports reader for TuksFM, a campus station situated where I am studying.

Within the first year of radio, I was able to expand my range into field reporting where I have covered note-worthy events such as the registration fee protest by students at the University of Pretoria as well as the ANC National Conference, among others.

In the Joburg Post, I work as a news and politics intern, where I report on all things you need to know, whilst juggling the life of a student and radio broadcast journalist as well.

As a news and political journalist at the Joburg Post, I bring you all the current affairs in a simple read. By going on the field to do field reporting, I'm able to give the reader updates on the JP Twitter page so no one has the fear of missing out (FOMO).

Through my opinion pieces, I give analysis on current issues that affect regular citizens, bringing nuances and sparking further conversations.

What is your vision for the Joburg Post platform?

The Joburg Post currently, is known for changing the narrative, from the stories we tell, to the everyday interactions we have altogether.

I think that is truly displayed in what we write on our platforms and I would like to hope that it stays like that in the future.

I think most of all, my vision is to see more young people enter our very young team, in aiding us in ‘changing the narrative’.

What is a fun fact about yourself?

I know how to play the piano. I did it for years in school, even taking music as a subject until matric. However, I'm mediocre, so please, never ask me to play!
