The FNB Stadium will host Bafana Bafana against Morocco

Bafana Bafana will play their last AFCON qualifier match against Morocco on the 17th of June 2023 at the FNB Stadium after SAFA and the Stadium Management confirmed the announcement on Tuesday the 23rd of May 2023.

SAFA CEO Lydia Monyepao and CFO Gronie Hluyo met with Stadium Management CEO Bertie Grobbelaar on Tuesday to address several issues related to the hosting of the game on the 17th of June 2023 at the 2010 FIFA World Cup final venue. 

The two parties resolved all the issues on the table, including an amount that was owed from a previous match played at the stadium. 

Speaking shortly after the meeting, Grobbelaar confirmed that the matter has been resolved with SAFA and the game will be played at the FNB Stadium.

“All financial matters between SAFA and Stadium Management have been resolved and the 2023 Africa Cup of Nations qualifier between Bafana Bafana and Morocco will go ahead at the FNB Stadium on the 17th of June 2023 as scheduled,” Grobbelaar said.

Although Bafana Bafana have already qualified for the Africa Cup of Nations in Ivory Coast next year, SAFA CEO, alluded that she is happy that the meeting was conducted in a warm spirit and all matters have now been resolved.

With a chance to finish at the summit of the group in group K, Bafana Bafana will bring their 'A' game into the encounter knowing that a victory will see them get to 7 points while Morocco will go second on 6 points.
