The EFF takes another L, amid its failed attempt to remove Parly Speaker

Following what has been an eventful start to the week of the Economic Freedom Fighters (EFF), the party's attempt at a motion of no-confidence against National Speaker Nosiviwe Mapisa-Nqakula failed. This following, the motion not receiving enough votes by members of the National Assembly yesterday.

The EFF has filed the motion following their dismisal from Parliament last month during President Cyril Ramaphosa's State of the Nation Address (SONA) by Parliamentary Protective Services.

The party had stormed the stage where the Head of State was seated, but have since expresssed that they posed no threat to him.

Following their removal from the chambers, the EFF vowed to table a motion of no-confidence against Mapisa-Nqakula, adding that her actions were unconstitutional.

Meanwhile, the party suffered yet another blow as the Constitutional Court  dismissed its application for leave to appeal an interdict that prohibits them from 'land-grabs'.

Following an interdict acquired by AfriForum in 2017, EFF leader, Julius Malema appealed the interdict which was later dismissed by the High Court in Pretoria.

Now, the party suffers yet another defeat, this time from the Constitutional Court.

AfriForum has since expressed its satisfaction with the ruling, probing why the EFF was so willing to incite lawlessness.
