Sundowns look to make it 5 out of 5 in KZN

By Neo Poho

Mamelodi Sundowns are on the verge of winning their fifth consecutive DStv Premiership match on Wednesday afternoon when they take on Richards Bay at the King Zwelithini Stadium.

Heading into the clash, Sundowns are also on the verge of creating history as a win will see Rulani Mokwena's charges make their best ever start to a Premier Soccer League season.

The Brazilians have never won their opening five games of the league season and only once before have taken 12 points from 12 at the start of a campaign, though they failed to go on and win the league on that occasion.

Having already defeated Sekhukhune United, Kaizer Chiefs, Golden Arrows and Chippa United so far, Masandawana are favorites against a Richards Bay side that has only collected one point in their three games played so far.

Last season Sundowns won all their matches against Richards Bay in the league firstly winning 2-0 on the 6th of January while also narrowly winning 1-0 on the 25th of April 2023.

Kick-off at the King Zwelithini Stadium on Wednesday is 17:00 o'clock.
