Ahead of their must win encounter against SuperSport United at the Royal Bafokeng Stadium, Kaizer Chiefs midfielder Siyethemba Sithebe has urged the Amakhosi faithful to not lose hope as yet.

Sithebe remains positive that Chiefs will win the remaining two matches and potentially finish third on the log and qualify for the CAF Confederations Cup next season.

The midfield maestro who has already put last week Saturday’s heartbreaking Soweto Derby exit from the Nedbank Cup behind him, is well aware of the daunting task Amakhosi are facing to at least finish the season on a positive note.

"We are facing SuperSport United that is also in the hunt for a continental spot next season, so I think we need to keep the focus because anything can happen, I believe it is still possible to get third position and, as players it is important to have that motivation so that our mindset as a group remains positive.

We know SuperSport and how they play so we need to be prepared for the long balls they play, and I think all our preparations are going well so far as the coach has also told us that we can't afford to lose to SuperSport United no matter what," Sithebe said.

With the 30 year-old finding his rhythm and form in the middle of the park for the Glamour Boys lately, the former AmaZulu midfielder is pleased with the sense of stability and consistency he has shown in his debut season at Naturena.

"Even though I struggled here and there in the beginning of the season, I told myself that when I come back I need to work hard to be consistent in helping the team, so the most important thing has been to keep trying to improve," Sithebe added.

Should Amakhosi win the encounter against Matsatsantsa a Pitori on Saturday afternoon, the race for the third spot finish would be wide open going into the final match of the league on the 20th of May.

Chiefs currently lie fourth on the log with 44 points while SuperSport United who are chasing the second spot behind Orlando Pirates, are third with 48 points after 28 matches.

The last time the two sides met Kaizer Chiefs won 2-1 at the FNB Stadium in the reverse fixture of the DStv Premiership with Caleb Bimenyimana netting a brace after Gavin Hunt's charges had broke the deadlock in the 15th minute through Grant Margeman.

Kick-off at the Royal Bafokeng Stadium in Rustenburg is at 15:00 o'clock.
