Ratomo likened to Steve Lekoelea

Former Orlando Pirates striker Jimmy Kauleza has likened the Buccaneers' teenage sensation Relebogile Ratomo to the club's legend Steve Lekoelea.

Coming from the Orlando Pirates' DStv Diski Challenge side, Ratomo made his senior debut for the Buccaneers against Royal AM in a DStv Premiership clash earlier on this month.

Although the match ended in a 1-1 draw, Ratomo's performance on the day was exceptionally sublime with the likes of Innocent Maela and Kermit Erasmus praising the 18-year old for his outstanding debut in the first team of Orlando Pirates.

Weeks later, Ratomo is still on everybody's lips and this time a former Pirates player and deadly striker during his playing days, Kauleza, has also joined in the praises of Ratomo.

Having played for Orlando Pirates in the early 2000's before joining Jomo Cosmos, Kauleza has reiterated that Ratomo reminds him of his former teammate and Pirates legend Lekoelea.

“Relebogile Ratomo is a good player and he honestly reminds me of Steve Lekoelea, everything about him is just similar to the traits Steve had.

He is skillful, very talented and he is very brave especially with the ball just like Steve, and to top it off they are both from the Vaal-Triangle in Sebokeng, so he really just reminds me of Steve," Kauleza said.

With Maela and Erasmus having mentioned before that Ratomo should just keep his head down and focus on improving his game and his approach to football, Kauleza has alluded that the youngster should keep his focus on what matters the most.

“He must focus in his football career, work hard and do extra training by waking up very early every morning to put in the extra work, whether it's going for a road run or exercising more but he should put in the extra effort in pursuit of being great," Kauleza added.

With the 2022/23 DStv Premiership season coming to an end on Saturday the 20th of May, Ratomo will hope to make another appearance in the match-day squad as Pirates head to KZN for a date with AmaZulu.

The Buccaneers will know that nothing but a victory will be enough for them to qualify for the CAF Champions League next season along with Mamelodi Sundowns.

Kick-off at the Moses Mabhida Stadium on Saturday is 15:00 o'clock.
