The PSL have announced on Tuesday that the 2022/23 Nedbank Cup quarterfinals will be played on the weekend of the 15th and 16th of April 2023.

The opening fixture of the quarterfinals will take place on the 15th of April with Dondol Stars hosting Orlando Pirates at the Peter Mokaba Stadium in Polokwane.

With the clash set to kick-off at 15:00, Dondol will be keen on bringing their 'A' game once again in a bid to defeat another DSTV Premiership side after already eliminating SuperSport United and AmaZulu in the last 32 and last 16 of the tournament.

The Mamelodi-based side is the only non-PSL side left in the competition and by virtue of advancing to the quarterfinals, they have received R400 000.

Meanwhile two-time Nedbank Cup champions Orlando Pirates will look to end Dondol's good run in the coveted tournament by reaching the semifinals of the Nedbank Cup and potentially go all the way to claim a third Nedbank Cup crown.

Pirates who have been up against lower league sides en route to the quarterfinals defeated All Stars FC and Venda Football Academy in the last 16 and last 32 respectively.

Also on the 15th of April Mamelodi Sundowns will travel to the Athlone Stadium to play against Stellenbosch FC in a match that is expected to produce fireworks from the first minute until the last.

Sundowns who have dropped points in the DSTV Premiership when playing against Stellenbosch FC will be wary of the amount of threat Steve Barker's charges poses with the encounter set to kick-off at 18:00.

Sunday the 16th of April will see 2021 runners-up Chippa United face Sekhukhune United at the Nelson Mandela Bay Stadium in Qqeberha.

Sekhukhune playing in their first quarterfinals of the tournament advanced to the last 8 after defeating Liver Brother 6-0 in the last 32 and Cape Town Spurs 2-0 in the last 16 while Chippa United got the better of Polokwane City and Mpheni Home Defenders respectively.

In the last encounter on Sunday the 16th of April Kaizer Chiefs will play Royal AM at the Chatsworth Stadium at 18:00 in what has been described as the match of the weekend.

Chiefs will be aiming on getting the victory to advance to the semifinals and potentially go all the way to win the tournament as the quest to end the 8 year trophy drought continues.

The teams who reach the semifinal round will take home R1 million while the teams who will play in the final are set to pocket R2.5 million with the winner scooping a massive R7 million.
