The Ministers of Police and the Department of Justice and Correctional Services (JCS), Bheki Cele and Ronald Lamola have expressed gratitude to the Tanzanian government for what has been described as “its unequivocal co-operation in the matter which relates to the arrest and process of deportation of Thabo Bester and Dr Nandipha Magudumana”

This comes as the Ministers held a media briefing to detail the updates in the Thabo Bester escape saga.

Bester and his partner Magudumana landed back on home soil in the early hours of Thursday morning, following weeks on end of being on the run.

The pair were arrested by Tanzanian authorities, 10km away from the Kenyan border which is the alleged location where they were heading next.

Following their arrest and repatriation, Thabo Bester has beenadmitted into the Kgosi Mampuru Central Maximum correctional facility with Dr Nandipha Magudumana  pending her first court appearance.

The Departments further expressed their gratitude for what they have described as the role players assisted in the detention of the two fugitives, following an extensive man hunt.

This is a developing story, more updates to follow.
