#PlayOfTheWeek

By Fentselite Mogotsi

If there’s any lesson from the weekend that was from the world of sport, it is that even the mighty fall sometimes. But also that class is permanent. This week’s Play of the Week is a celebration of a legend that continues to deliver. And no, this time it’s not Ronaldo or Messi.

Speaking of those two, Man Utd has been struggling to string together wins in their campaign, managing a late win against Villareal and taking a point against Everton wit Ronaldo coming off the bench only to see Andros Townsend score and mimic his trademark Siu celebration in front of Old Trafford fans!

His ne’messi’s on the other hand had a weekend of mixed emotions. Leo Messi finally scored his first goal in a shirt other that of Barcelona when his new club PSG faced his old manager Pep Guardiola’s Man City in the Champions League. It was a goal worthy of all the patience as he made his run on the right side of the pitch linking from a Achraf Hakimi pass, connected with Kylian Mbappe who set the world’s best player up for a fine finish in the top right corner and sent the world of football into a frenzy! The excitement was short lived as Leo Messi is still yet to score in his domestic league and lost by 2 goals against Rennes without even a shot on target.

PSG were not the only top team not getting results this weekend, with the Spanish giants Real Madrid and Barcelona also taking Ls. The former had a shock defeat in the champions league against Sheriff and then a loss to Espanyol in La Liga. The latter are having serious problems and considering a change of manager as Ronald Koeman’s project is not yielding results. Barcelona lost to Benfica in the same margin they lost to Bayern in their first Champions League group match, 3 goals to nil. They followed this up with a 2-0 loss to Atletico Madrid in La Liga where their former star Luis Suarez was on target to sink the team that let him go.

Bayern Munich is likely to win the Champions league but not with the form they displayed this weekend losing to Frankfurt, their first loss to them in 21 years and first home loss since 2019.

This brings us to this week’s Play of the Week which is much closer to home, but not. Former Bafana forward Dino Ndlovu is playing his football out in Turkey for Kocaelispor FC. The former Maccabi Haifa star has been revived lately doing what we’ve always known him for. Dino Ndlovu has been in scintillating form for his team, with a hattrick in their match against Balikesirspor and following that up with a brace against Instanbulspor this weekend. The man is proving his class and maybe setting example for young South African stars in the National team set up.

Congratulations to Dino Ndlovu, we will continue to watch and learn and celebrate him from afar.

Til next week, be a good sport and tell a friend to join our team on mysportsbook.co
