Pirates head to the Nedbank Cup final without Makhaula

By Neo Poho

Orlando Pirates will take on Sekhukhune United in the final of the Nedbank Cup on Saturday evening at Loftus Versfeld without the services of Makhehlene Makhaula.

The key midfielder will miss out on the action on Saturday due to suspension after picking up his fourth yellow card of the season against AmaZulu over the past weekend.

Having already made 10 appearances in all competitions for Pirates this season, Makhaula has had a rather solid stint at the Bucanneers since joining from AmaZulu during the January transfer window.

With Pirates already having a vast midfield department, Makhaula's absence will likely see the likes of Ben Motshwari, Goodman Mosele, Fortune Makaringe, Ndabayithethwa Ndlondlo and Thabang Monare fighting for the starting berth in the midfield alongside the ever consistent Miguel Timm.

Pirates managed to reach the final of the Nedbank Cup after defeating Kaizer Chiefs 2-1 in the semi-finals earlier on this month but before that, they got the better of All Stars FC, Venda Football Academy and Dondol Stars in the last 32, 16 and 8 respectively.

Kick-off at Loftus Versfeld Stadium on Saturday is at 18:00 o'clock.
