1. Can you share your journey in the tech industry, from your early days to becoming the managing director of Solvyng?

I studied information technology at the University of Pretoria and started my career as a software developer. I gained experience in various companies, specialising in cloud technology and working with clients in the banking sector. My passion for technology and entrepreneurship led me to start Solvyng, a fast-growing tech company providing world-class solutions globally.

2. What is Solvyng's vision as a black-owned tech company and its role in the industry, both in Africa and internationally?

Solvyng's vision as a black-owned tech company is to provide world-class technology solutions to enterprises globally, not limited to Africa. While our context is African, we have already expanded our reach to Europe and Brazil. We strive to balance international growth with solving African problems using technology, contributing to economic growth in the region.

3. How do you foster innovation and inspire your team to deliver on Solvyng's service offerings for both the world and Africa?

I foster innovation and inspire my team to deliver on Solvyng's service offerings by looking for high performers during the interview process and emphasising the bigger vision of Solvyng to potential employees. I have regular one-on-one meetings with each team member to ensure alignment with the vision and individual preferences. By allowing employees to work in areas they enjoy and excel in, they can contribute their best and help Solvyng provide world-class solutions.


4. What influenced you to pursue a business in this market and what problem did you aim to solve?

The influence to pursue a business in this market comes from my entrepreneurial nature and my observation of black people not being perceived as smart or confident in the tech industry. Starting Solvyng was a rebellious move to prove that black individuals are just as capable and intelligent. By building world-class solutions, Solvyng aims to challenge those stereotypes and showcase the talent within the black community.

5. What sets Solvyng apart from other tech companies, and how do you ensure the delivery of world-class solutions?

What sets Solvyng apart from other tech companies is our offering of customised solutions that address specific challenges faced by clients, rather than providing generic products. We prioritise understanding the client's needs and deliver tailored solutions to meet those requirements. I emphasise the importance of hiring top talent and investing in continuous learning and development to maintain our company's high standards.

6. How does Solvyng contribute to the growth of the tech industry in Africa, and what steps are being taken to empower the local community?

Solvyng contributes to the growth of the tech industry in Africa by providing employment opportunities and investing in local talent. We aim to build a culture of entrepreneurship and innovation by supporting local startups and participating in initiatives that promote technology education. Solvyng is committed to uplifting the local community and contributing to Africa's technological advancement.

7. What future plans or expansions do you have for Solvyng, and how do you envision its impact on the global tech landscape?
