Ahead of their clash against Marumo Gallants over the weekend, Kaizer Chiefs head coach Arthur Zwane has confirmed that midfielder Nkosingiphile Ngcobo will be out for the rest of the season.

The last time Ngcobo was in action for Amakhosi was on the 21st of January 2023 when Chiefs lost 1-0 to Mamelodi Sundowns at the FNB Stadium with the 23 year old being substituted in the 75th minute of the encounter.

Speaking ahead of the Marumo Gallants encounter on Saturday the 8th of April 2023, Zwane reiterated that 'Mshini' as he is affectionately called by a lot of Amakhosi fans will be unavailable until the rest of the current campaign.

"Well Mshini is out for the remainder of the season and he is not going to be available as he is still recovering from an injury he sustained.

"On the brighter side though, Khama Billiat started jogging last week however, he is far from returning to action, for now he is still working with our bio before we can hand him over to the football actions, which is the coaches on the field." Zwane said.

Despite Billiat's return to action being far from happening soon, Zwane is glad that there's a bit of a progress with the Zimbabwean international who last featured for Amakhosi on the 29th of October in the Soweto derby against Orlando Pirates.

"I am happy with the progress he has steadily made, I will be fighting for his fitness and make sure that he is ready to play, otherwise we don't want to risk and hurt him again,"

With Chiefs having a long list of injuries at its disposal, Zwane has confirmed that Eric Mathoho just got back too and he is fighting for fitness along with Cole Alexander who is close to returning to action.

Despite the frustrating situation Chiefs find themselves in of injuries to key players, Zwane and co. will be hoping the current team that is full of youngsters will rise to the occasion as Amakhosi are still fighting for the top two spot and the Nedbank Cup triumph.

"The number of injuries that we have had especially to our key players this season has been a big blow for us because we find ourselves in a situation where we are forced to make too many changes and putting other players under pressure, especially the youngsters.

"In the midst of all that I am at the same time proud of those we have given the opportunity and they grabbed it with both hands, it's really encouraging and at the same time it shows they are moving in the right direction." Zwane added.

Amakhosi will be looking to extend their winning streak to six matches in all competitions over the weekend against Gallants and move a bit higher on the log standings with 43 points.

The Glamour Boys will then take on Sekhukhune United, Chippa United, Swallows FC, SuperSport United and Cape Town City in their remaining league matches.

Kick-off at the FNB Stadium on Saturday night is at 20:00.
