Changes in fuel prices will see motorists breathe a sigh of relief

The Department of Mineral Resources and Energy published the official fuel price adjustments for the month of April which will see massive drops in diesel prices as well as minor drops in the prices of petrol.

Following the announcement made by the Minister of Finance, Enoch Godongwana that the General Fuel and Road Accident Fund levy on both petrol and diesel would not be increased, motorists are now reaping the benefits, with drops in fuel prices.

The changes are effective from today, 5 April 2023, with the price of diesel dropping to  73.58 cents and 74.58 cents less per litre of 0.05% sulphur and 0.005% sulphur diesel respectively, whilst 93 octane petrol 93 octane is set to decrease by one-cent per litre.

Despite the positive changes that will take form, the price of 95 octane will still increase by two cents in Gauteng.

Gas consumers can also breathe a sigh of relief and fill their cylinders up, with the price of Maximum Liquid Petroleum Gas (LPG) set to drop by 92 cents.

The price adjustments for the month are different based on region, with coastal regions seeing a bigger drop in prices. Paraffin users will also save a few coins, with the wholesale cost of paraffin decreasing by over R1 a litre.

Seems like good news all around the board for motorists, which is much needed following other economic issues and challenges facing consumers.
