Mamelodi Sundowns and Andile Jali part ways

Andile Jali's agent Mike Makaab has confirmed that the midfielder and the current DStv Premiership champions Mamelodi Sundowns will go their separate ways by the end of the current week.

This follows Jali's absence from the club since February 2023 after he allegedly arrived at Sundowns' training base in Chloorkop under the influence of alcohol.

Amid concerns and speculations about Jali's future at the club, Makaab has finally broke the silence and alluded that Jali will leave on a positive and amicable note.

"We are in the process of finalising a mutual termination, which will be done during the course of this week and my client will leave Sundowns on a positive and amicable basis.

An official statement will come from the club, but when a 'new coach' comes in to the building, he has his own thoughts and ideas, and we have to respect that and so does Andile," Makaab said.

Having joined Sundowns in 2018 from KV Oostende in Belgium, Jali won five league titles, two Nedbank Cup titles, one MTN 8 title and a single Telkom Knockout title with the Tshwane based side.

Although Jali's future is still uncertain at the moment on where he is going next, Makaab alluded that the 33 year-old still wants to play football.

"We are trying to finalise the issue with Sundowns out of respect for both parties and fortunately enough, Andile still wants to play, he believes he has two more years at least to still play.

He has a personal trainer at the moment and he is very motivated for the next chapter and I also still believe in my personal opinion he is the best no.6 in the land," Makaab added.
