Kaizer Chiefs have been fined R10 000 by the PSL DC for fielding a suspended player in the DStv Diski Challenge match.

Amakhosi were found guilty of fielding suspended midfielder Puso Dithejane in their 5-0 victory against Maritzburg United on the 19th of April 2023.

The Premier Soccer League prosecutor Zola Majavu confirmed that Kaizer Chiefs as well as Dithejane pleaded guilty as charged and they were subsequently convicted accordingly by the DC.

“I can confirm that earlier this morning Kaizer Chiefs Football Club as well as their player Mr. Dithejane appeared before the PSL DC to answer charges of fielding a suspended player in the form of Mr Dithejane for participating in a match when he was ineligible to do so," Majavu said.

"With regards to sanctions, having listened to submissions by both parties, namely the prosecutor and the representative of the respondent, the DC rules as follows;

a) Kaizer Chiefs was directed and ordered to forfeit the match in favour of Maritzburg United, that was a DDC match.

b) Kaizer Chiefs was fined an amount of R10,000 which was suspended for a period of 24 months on condition that during the period of suspension, they are not found guilty of the same offence.

c) Lastly, Kaizer Chiefs were ordered to carry the costs of the DC sittings, while Dithejane was given a one-match suspension," Majavu added.

Amakhosi's DDC team will next face SuperSport United on Saturday the 13th of May at the TUT Stadium in Pretoria for their final game of the season.
