Jose Riveiro insists Pirates have to progress to the next round of the CAF Champions League

Orlando Pirates head coach Jose Riveiro has insisted that Pirates have to progress to the next round of the CAF Champions League.
Pirates face Djabal Club in the second leg of the CAF Champions League Preliminary round on Friday the 25th of August 2023 at Orlando Stadium.
Heading into the clash at the back of a 1-0 aggregate win from last weekend, Riveiro has revealed that they are targeting a win in the second leg in order to advance to the second preliminary round.
"Knockout games over two legs are always complicated for everyone, for the big fish, for the small fish – for different reasons, so we try to take it serious because what we want is to win every game, I am happy that we managed to get a good result, not because we face the second one in advantage but because we won.
Now we have to go to the game the same way, it’s 0-0, we want to win the game, we don’t want to play for draws, we are not thinking only about going to the next round, we want to perform, we want to prepare for the next game as well and we want to keep growing as a group," Riveiro said.
Should Pirates win they are most likely to face Botswana's Jwaneng Galaxy in the next round.
Kick-off at the Orlando Stadium on Friday night is at 19:30.
