"It will be a mental struggle in both games" - Hugo Broos

Bafana Bafana coach Hugo Broos has revealed how important it is for his side to win the two AFCON qualifying matches against Liberia in a bid to position themselves for qualifying for the Africa Cup of Nations.

Bafana face Liberia in a crucial two-legged tie starting on Friday the 24th of March at the Orlando Stadium while the second qualifying match will be on Tuesday the 28th of March in Liberia.

With Bafana failing to book a spot in four of the last seven AFCON finals, Bafana need all the six points to qualify for the showpiece in Ivory Coast and Broos has stated it won't be easy as anything can happen in Africa.

"It will be a mental struggle in those games if we want to be sure of qualifying, we have to win the two matches to position ourselves in the right direction but you never know because anything can happen in Africa," Broos said.

Bafana will next face Morocco in June as the group stages conclude and Broos is wary of the threat the Morocco team poses in group K.

"We lost to Morocco last year in our first group match and that means if we get all the six points against Liberia we have a better chance of qualifying for AFCON because we don't know what will happen when we face a very good Morocco side in June," Broos added.

Bafana have met Liberia before twice in the 2002 AFCON qualifiers defeating the West African side 2-1 in the first encounter and going on to play a 1-1 draw in the reverse fixture.

With Liberia looking to cause an upset against the South African side, the encounter on Friday that is set to kick-off at 18:00 surely promises to be a mouth-watering affair for all football loving fans.
